UAE describes new requirements for load & discharge

UK Club said it had received a circular from the UAE Federal Transport Authority regarding new requirements for oil and products cargoes operations in UAE ports, territorial waters and in the exclusive economic zones, with immediate effect.

With reference to ministerial resolution No. (73) 2017, foreign flagged ships carrying crude oil and products in UAE ports, territorial waters and in the exclusive economic zone – excluding ships with navigation licenses issued by the FTA – must fulfil the following conditions to carry out load/discharge operations:

·       The ship must be less than 25 years old from date of delivery

·       The ship must be classed by classification society member in the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) or emirates classification society (TASNEEF)

Doubled hull: Constructed or adapted primarily to carry crude oil and products in bulk.
