Meet the team
Peter Birks – Editor
I have been reporting on the insurance industry for more than 20 years, first on newsletters with Evandale Publishing and, subsequent to that company’s purchase by Informa, as editor of a range of insurance-related titles, including Informa’s Insurance News 24. This became increasingly integrated with the Insurance Day and Lloyd’s List teams. From January 2014 I became managing editor of Reactions magazine, with offices in London and New York. I have also managed the production of daily news reports at the Monte Carlo Rendez-vouz and the US PCI.
Grant and I believe that there is a demand in the market for efficient, no-frills, insightful marine insurance reporting. The news that the marine insurance market will want to read, that is written in a timely, well-written, competitively priced, accurate and succinct manner.

As Marketing Director for such titles as Insurance Day, Lloyd’s List for over 10 years I acted as the voice of the reader in steering editorial and commercial direction.
Having worked in corporate publishing houses, I’ve seen the myriad considerations that pull products in many directions, generally to the detriment of the reader: my ambition is simple to provide simple, clear, easy to access and read news and analysis on the matters that affect our readers.
I was fortunate enough to meet lots of great people in this sector from all around the globe and wanted to give the market its first quality online community hub – to cut out all the insurance information overload and offer this market a product whose sole focus was on marine coverage. My aim is to introduce a dedicated resource without charging budget breaking access costs.
