Sturdy, and Wilson, in new projects

London marine broker SSL – now renamed Sturdy Insurance Brokers Ltd – is being repositioned from a marine wholesaler into an MGA incubator after founder Andrew Sturdy recently bought it back from JC Flowers-owned Oneglobal, reports The Insider.

Sturdy is reported to be planning to launch marine war managing general agency Ri5k Underwriting. Ri5k Underwriting was incorporated last summer and also features the return of Angus Wilson as part-owner. Wilson was previously Head of Marine at Neon Underwriting, the then-manager of Syndicate 2468. Sturdy AGI Holdings Ltd was granted approval in February to acquire the entire share capital of Lloyd’s marine broker Oneglobal Holdings Ltd, which is backed by JC Flowers & Co
