SSL Kolkata sinks

Boxship SSL Kolkata (IMO 9346574) sank on July 2nd near the Sundarbans and the maritime border line between India and Bangladesh. The ship came to rest on the bottom with a list to starboard, partially showing above water. Several containers were floating in the area, causing a hazard to traffic in the area. The contracted salvage team is attempting to recover floating containers. There are still 211 tons fuel oil in the vessel waiting to be drained off. 2006-built, India-flagged, 9,956 gt SSL Kolkata is owned and managed by Shreyas Shipping & Logistics of Mumbai, India. ISM manager is TW Ship Management Pvt Ltd of Mumbai, India. It is entered with North of England Club on behalf of Shreyas Shipping & Logistics Ltd.
