Container ship APL Gulf Express (IMO 9239874) lost eight containers over board while being berthed at Shuwaikh port, Kuwait on June 28th. Divers have recovered all the empty containers, according to the Kuwait Port Authority On July 2nd the ship, which had come from Sharjah, was still docked at berth 9.

The general cargo carrier Thorco Lineage (IMO 9673197) assistance operation was continuing last week as planned. Under the supervision of Bougainville the freighter was continuing her drift parallel to the west coast of Raroia, tending to drift away. Divers found that the hull of the vessel was damaged, but no leak. The support team leader believed the ship was safe for several days of towing. The divers carried out showed that the freighter had damaged its propeller because of the repeated shocks suffered during its stay on the Raroia reefs. As of July 4th the vessel was moored in Papeete. 2014-built, Philippines-flagged, 13,110 gt Thorco Lineage is listed as owned by Phoenix Carriers Corp SA care of manager Thorco Shipping AS of Hellerup, Denmark. ISM manager is Sea Quest Ship Management of Manila, Philippines. It is entered with Standard Club (Mediterranean & Middle East Division) on behalf of Sinbanali Shipping Inc of Manila, Philippines.

Container ship Isao (IMO 9320051) suffered a power blackout on June 18th due to irregularities in the fresh water cooling system. The auxiliary engine sustained damage, caused mainly by continuous leaking of the condenser, which further caused the HT and LT pumps to be filled with excess air due to the expansion tank’s rapid drainage. The damaged part was the mechanical shaft seal and shafting bearings of auxiliary No. 4. The vessel was towed from its anchorage to the Keppel Subic Shipyard, Philippines, on June 20th. All repairs and tests on the vessel’s auxiliary engine and fresh water cooling system were completed on June 26th and the ship departed from Subic to Shanghai. 2006-built, Marshall Islands-flagged, 27,971 gt Isao is owned by Isao Schiffahrtfesellschaft care of manager Rickmers Reederei GmbH & Cie KG of Hamburg, Germany. It is entered with Standard Club (Europe Division) on behalf of Isao Schiffahrtfesellschaft.

A fire broke out in the superstructure of general cargo ship Sormovskiy-45 (IMO 8133566) on July 2nd at a Dnieper river dock of the Kherson shipyard of the Smart Maritime Group. Firefighters were called and responded with 25 men, among them five experts for ship fires. They had the fire under control at within a couple of hours. At its height the fire covered an area of 100 square meters and had spread from the end of a corridor to the cabins and the navigation deck. It caused significant damage in the accommodation block. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was apparently sparks caused a welding team of the ship’s crew due to a violation of safety rules. 1982-built, Moldova-flagged, 2,478 gt Sormovskiy-45 is owned by Navimar Ltd care of manager Niesco Shipping Co Ltd, Nikolayev, Ukraine.
