New Russian fish factory vessel capsizes at pier

Fish factory vessel Skorpion (IMO 9847839) capsized and sank alongside a pier at Pella Shipyard, St Petersburg, Neva River, Russia on March 30th. The ship rested on the bottom on its starboard side. Two workers were reported trapped inside, with their bodies subsequently being recovered. The ship was under construction. According to local reports the accident occurred during ballast system tests. The Skorpion was set to be delivered to its owner sometime in the mid-2021.

2021-built, Russia-flagged, 2,380 gt Skorpion is owned and managed by Eridan JSC of Murmansk, Russia.
