Standard P&I Club has named Cesare d’Amico as its new chairman. Mr d’Amico, of d’Amico Societa di Navigazione ,was unanimously elected at the board’s recent meeting; he will become chairman from January 2018, subject to regulatory approval. At the same time, Nicolas Hadjioannou, of Alassia Newships Management, will become the new joint Deputy Chairman, working alongside existing Deputy Chairman Erik Johnsen of Seaocean Carriers.
Rod Jones of CSL Group is stepping down as chairman following his retirement from CSL Group in March this year. Standard Club CEO Jeremy Grose said: “On behalf of everyone at The Standard Club and Charles Taylor, I would like to thank Rod for his dedication and service to the club over the past 15 years, of which the last four years have been as chairman. The club has flourished during his tenure and we wish him well in his retirement.
Jones continued: “I am delighted to welcome in Cesare d’Amico as our new Chairman. Cesare has been a committed member of the board who has been serving as deputy chairman for over three years and is therefore highly valued for his knowledge and experience. The club is committed to supporting its members and has ambitious plans for the year ahead and I look forward to working with Cesare as Chairman.”
