Marine accident round-up : 12th February 2020

A port worker was killed by an H beam which fell into the cargo hold of general cargo ship Da Gui (IMO 9768564) on February 8th during welding works. The ship had docked at the Yulchon Terminal in Gwangyang on Feb 7, coming from Gulangyu. Some repair works were under way when the deadly accident happened. 2017-built, China-flagged, 21,992 gt Da Gui is owned and managed by Cosco Shipping Specialized of Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It is entered with West of England Club (Hong Kong claims team) on behalf of Claims Hong Kong.

RoRo containership ship Ark Dania (IMO 9609964) allided with the quay in Esbjerg, Denmark upon its arrival in Immingham around noon on February 9th due to fierce winds. She sustained damage to her hull. The ship could not unload the close to 200 vehicles that the ship had carried from England because of the high water level and the strong winds. 2014-built, Denmark-flagged, 33,313 gt Ark Dania is owned and managed by DFDS of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is entered with West of England Club (European Claims team) on behalf of DFDS
