A fast tour boat near Indonesia burst into flames after its engine exploded on the morning of September 15th. The incident occurred in Padang Bai, Bali. At least one German tourist died , while 19 other tourists on board were injured, according to local police.
Officials immediately made it clear that it was not a bomb that caused the explosion.
The boat was carrying 35 passengers, all foreigners, and four crew, and was headed to the island of Gili Trawangan. Three of the tourists were said to have suffered severe burns and injures and were taken to hospital; one of them subsequently died, reportedly from head injuries.
Among the passengers were 17 Britons and tourists from France, Italy, Portugal, Ireland and Spain, Agence France-Presse reported.
A spokesman for the British embassy in Jakarta said it was providing assistance to British nationals injured in the blast.
