Huanghai Glory returns to Lagos after pirate attack

General cargo ship Huanghai Glory (IMO 9458432), which was reportedly boarded by pirates on March 5th, reached Lagos anchorage on March 7th, escorted by a Nigerian Navy vessel. When pirates boarded the ship, the 23 Chinese crew apparently mustered successfully in the citadel, where they remained until a Nigerian patrol boat approached the ship on March 6th, causing the pirates to flee. The vessel was boarded in the Gulf of Guinea, about 85nm south of Lagos. After the attack the ship was not under control and began to drift and did not respond to contact requests.

2012-built, Hong Kong-flagged, 20,682 gt Huanghai Glory is owned by Huanghai HK Shun An Shipping care of manager Tianjin Xinhan International Ship Management of Tianjin, China. It is entered with American Club on behalf of Huanghai (HK) Shun An Shipping Co Ltd.
