A build-up of operational constraints on the Hapag-Lloyd West African services have begun to affect the connection of cargo from North Europe and Mediterranean, the Hamburg-based shipping company has said.
It said that as a result it was facing challenging transhipment operations and congestion in Tangier, as well as in the main hubs in North Europe.
Hapag-Lloyd said that therefore it would have to suspend the booking of new cargo from Northern Europe and the Mediterranean (including North Africa) to West Africa, including Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Senegal, Mauritania and Benin, with immediate effect and until further notice.
Hapag-Lloyd said that it was working on easing the situation and promised that it would reinstate acceptance as soon as possible.
