Bulk carrier MKK 1 (IMO 8902929) ran aground in the Bosphorus strait , Turkey, during the morning of January 16th, in the Umuryen area. The vessel was en route from Ukraine to Istanbul, apparently loaded with Ukrainian grain. Later in the morning of January 16th tugs were in attendance, but the vessel had not yet been refloated. By January 16th afternoon local time the vessel was recorded as once again being underway using engine, but still in the Bosphorus. By the eening it had reachedTuzla anchorage, south of the Bosphorus.
Traffic was temporarily suspended during the grounding.
SAR ship Nene Hatun (IMO 9675004), along with tugs Kurtarma 5 (IMO 9463164), Kurtarma 8 (IMO 9598610) and Kurtarma 9 (IMO 9598581) were on scene, trying to refloat the ship during the morning of January 16th. Lifeboat Kiyem 8 was also in attendance.
