Russian inland cruise ship Stepan Arzhakov grounded in Lena river in Yakutia. There were 98 passengers and 11 crew on board. Stepan Arzhakov was hit by strong cross winds before striking a sandy mud shallow near the shore. The vessel suffered serious damage below the water line. There were no reported injuries.
Two Mi-8 helicopters, with 31 people, including 10 children, were taken to Yakutsk. The remaining 67 people were transferred to Yakutsk by bus.
Four tugs are engaged in salvage operations. The vessel remains afloat.
