China bans trade and consumption of wild animals due to coronavirus

China has banned the trade and consumption of wild animals, which it said would help the country in its fight against Covid-19, reported Reuters. The announcement, made earlier this week, comes after an initial suspension of the trade and consumption of wildlife in January. Zhang Tiewei, a spokesman for the Legislative Affairs Commission , said that “there has been a growing concern among people over the consumption of wild animals and the hidden dangers it brings to public health security since the novel coronavirus outbreak”.
