BMS hires three for energy lines team

Specialist UK-based re/insurance broker BMS has announced three senior hires to its up-, mid- and down-stream energy offerings with the appointment of three senior hires.

Alex Collier and Josh Saggers will join as directors and Andrew Vertigan will join as a senior account handler, effective May 2023. They will begin an expansion of BMS specialisms in North America by working with BMS US Marine specialists and completing the circle of service across energy and marine.

Based in London, the trio will report to James Chicken, managing director of energy lines at BMS.

Collier has 15 years of energy experience, with a focus on physical damage and liability insurance for upstream energy clients. He joins from Price Forbes & Partners, where he has been executive director of its energy division since 2019.

Vertigan joins BMS with 35 years of experience in the energy sector. He has specialized in the independent wholesale specialty space, covering downstream energy, renewables, power, marine and majoring in upstream energy for the past 18 years. He joins from Miller Insurance Services, where he was most recently an energy account handler. Prior to this, he held a number of leadership positions at Marsh & McLennan Companies and Sedgwick Offshore Resources Ltd.

Saggers has more than 15 years’ experience in broking and advisory. He joins BMS from his most recent role as director at Price Forbes & Partners, where he was responsible for broking a variety of risks into the London, European and Bermudian markets, including upstream, midstream, downstream, marine, general liability, and construction clients. He began his insurance career in RK Harrison’s energy division in 2008.
