Arrested cargo ship released by Tunisian authorities

Cargo RoRo Ural (IMO 7725386), which was arrested at Sfax, Tunisia, on February 15th, was released on April 6th, minus her cargo of military equipment, which was seized by Tunisian authorities.

The $4.1m cargo was described by Tunisia as a shipment comprising everything required to set up a military camp, including armoured vehicles and weaponry. Ural had sailed from Novorossiysk and was bound for Douala, Cameroon. On April 6th the ship headed for Alexandria, where she arrived on April 10th.

1980-built, Panama-flagged, 4,994 gt Ural is owned by Uphill Shipping SA care of manager Akdeniz Roro Deniz Tasimaciligi Turizm Sanayi ve Ticaret Ltd Sti of Mersin, Turkey. It is entered with Navigators on behalf of Uphill Shipping SA. Note, as of 8th February 2018, Navigators has transferred the management of its marine P&I business to Thomas Miller Specialty Underwriting Agency Limited (TMS).
