Warning over Typhoon Hagibis

Japan Club has warned members that, according to the weather forecast on October 9th, Typhoon Hagibis was approaching wide areas from western to northern Japan and would be at its worst over this weekend.

The Club urged members to provide safety measures against rough seas, obtaining the latest weather information such as a maximum instantaneous wind speed, a storm warning area, a projected path and so on.

Vessels staying at anchorages to avoid typhoons were advised to take appropriate measures against dragging anchor, including engine stand-by in advance.

In cases where vessels would be anchoring or navigating in rough sea, it was essential to take extra care to ship handling in head and countering/following Seas, the Club said.
