Vessel attacked by pirates off Port-au-Prince

Chemical/oil products tanker Tosna Star (IMO 9425239) was attacked by between 10 and 12 pirates off Port-au-Prince, Haiti, during the evening of May 17th. They were armed with machetes and other weapons.

After threatening the crew of 21 they robbed them of their mobile phones and the ship’s ropes. The attack lasted half an hour. The ship had left Buenos Aires on December 23rd 2019 and should have returned to Argentina in March. However, the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent quarantine prevented the ship from returning. 2010-built, Liberia-flagged, 8,621 gt Tosna Star is owned by Tosna Star Schiffahrts care of manager NSC Tank of Hamburg, Germany. ISM manager is NSC Liquids Transport GmbH of Hamburg, Germany. It is entered with North of England Club on behalf of MT “Tosna Star” Schifffahrtsgesellschaft mbh & co.
