Unipec resumes use of COSCO tankers

China-based  Unipec, the trading arm of leading refiner Sinopec, has resumed using tankers owned by COSCO. It had suspended bookings with COSCO tankers after the US imposed sanctions on the COSCO subsidiary COSCO (Dalian).

One COSCO owned tanker that belonged to a subsidiary not affected by the US sanctions was sailing to Asia with a cargo of oil chartered by Unipec, reported Reuters, citing Refinitiv data.

The US announced sanctions on Chinese tanker companies, including COSCO Shipping Tanker (Dalian), on September 25th.
