Two MSC ships in allision

Cruise ship MSC Orchestra (IMO 9320099) allided with cruise ship MSC Poesia (IMO 9387073) at the Benito Quinquela Martín at the port of Buenos Aires during the afternoon of February 20th. MSC Orchestra left port en route to Rio de Janeiro, the final destination of her cruise, after a stopover in Montevideo. She scraped the port side of the MSC Poesía under circumstances that were unclear with her starboard side. MSC Poesia had moored that day. Damage was minor, with MSC Poesia suffering damage to a mooring bridge that protruded from the hull. The pier was also damaged, with a fender torn off shoreside. MSC Orchestra suffered damage to a lifeboat on deck 7, and left the port at 22:40, bound for Punta dell Este. MSC Poesia left the Terminal Rio de Plata at 21:30 on February 21st, heading for Montevideo, ETA 09:30 February 22nd.

2008-built, Panama-flagged, 92,627 gt MSC Poesia is owned by Newco S32 SA Care of manager MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co of Geneva, Switzerland. ISM manager is MSC Cruise Management UK Ltd of Uxbridge, UK. It is entered with UK P&I Club (Area Group London L3) on behalf of MSC Cruise Management (UK) Ltd.

2007-built, Panama-flagged, 92,409 gt MSC Orchestra is owned by Orchestra Bail Gie care of MSC of Geneva, Switzerland. ISM manager is MSC Cruise Management UK Ltd of Uxbridge, UK. It is entered with UK P&I Club (Area Group London L3) on behalf of MSC Cruise Management (UK) Ltd.
