Lloyd’s carrier Dale Underwriting Partners is to enter the marine treaty market after recruiting MS Amlin duo Matthew Sims and Will Taylor. The pair will begin their work for Dale in November 2022. Both Sims and Taylor bring more than two decades of experience to their new roles.
Dale said that the marine treaty class had reached an “inflection point” after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Dale said that aviation, war and terror risks were likely to break out of composite programmes in 2023 as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.
Dale entered the upstream energy space in January 2021 with the hire of Matthew Holmes.
Dominic Peters, active underwriter at Dale, said that both Sims and Taylor were “well positioned to respond to developments and opportunities in the market as they are recognized leaders in their space and have long-standing experience – with the ability to be flexible and innovative on product and process to support our clients and accommodate these risks, organically growing the portfolio. It is a testament to Dale that we are able to attract such highly regarded market professionals.”
