Turkey transit fees to rise

Transit fees (dues for light, sanitation and life-saving), charged by Turkey to vessels using the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits will be increased significantly from October 7th 2022, rising by $4 per tonne. It is the first time Turkey has changed these dues since 1983. According to the Montreux Straits Convention signed in 1936, Turkey retains the right to demand light, sanitation and life-saving dues from ships passing through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles.
