As previously reported in IMN, on April 3rd the National Union Chamber of Port Services in Tunisia announced a three-day strike from April 16th to 18th. It would appear that this strike is still going ahead.
The union has called on all its affiliates to observe the work stoppage during this period.
The strike has been convened as an expression of professional discontent about the lack of interest from the Department of Transport and the Merchant Marine and Ports Board in resolving outstanding issues and reviewing the port company records.
The Expanded Executive Board has met to look at all the issues relating to ships’ mooring men, ships’ watchmen and other services provided by the port authorities.
