Tanker detained in Gibraltar after crew complains of non-payment

Chemical / oil products tanker Electra (IMO 9307815) – a shadow fleet tanker previously linked to India’s Gatik Shipmanagement – has been detained by Gibraltar’s Ports State Control (PSC) after its Russian crew complained of non-payment of wages.

The Electra was stopped last Thursday, January 25th, a week after a ship-to-ship transfer of Russian oil products off the coast of Greece, according to Kpler tracking data.

It had loaded 300,000 barrels of naphtha from the Russian port of Ust-Luga in November and December. As of January 30th the vessel remained at Gibraltar West Anchorage.

2005-built, Gabon-flagged, 30,3053 gt Electra is owned by Gordian Shipping & Marine Inc of Majuro, Marshall Islands. ISM manager is Galena Ship Management of Maharashtra, India. The vessel was known until January 2023 as the Atlantica Bridge. In January 2023 it changed flags from Liberia to St Kitts & Nevis, and in May 2023 it moved from there to Gabon. Gatik Ship Management was ISM and commercial manager until January 2023, when it handed the ISM reins to Galena Ship Management and the commercial management over to Gordian Shipping & Marine.
