Locally based salvage company Seamax Marine Services reported the successful salvage on September 7th of deck cargo ship Heng Tong 77 (IMO 8662361) which had been stranded at Clifton Beach, Karachi.
The Heng Tong 77 had been stranded at Clifton beach, Karachi since July 21st. The vessel was en route to Istanbul from Shanghai, but drifted and stranded on Clifton beach during poor weather conditions.
“For the first time, a stranded ship has been rescued safely using local capabilities – a milestone in the country’s shipping industry – said Mehmood Maulvi, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Maritime Affairs.
As of September 12th the vessel was moored in Karachi.
2010-built, Panama-flagged, 2,257 gt Heng Tong 77 is owned and managed by Bimiks Industrial Equipment of Dubai, UAE.
