SpaceX rocket launch cancelled after Royal Caribbean cruise ship entered safety zone

Royal Caribbean International cruise ship Harmony Of The Seas (IMO 9682875) violated a US Coast Guard Captain of the Port safety zone and caused the cancellation of a SpaceX rocket launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida, in January , A US Coast Guard investigation has concluded.

The Harmony of the Seas left Port Canaveral for a voyage to the Bahamas when, without authorization, it entered a safety zone established by the Captain of the Port of Jacksonville, designed to ensure the safety of the public during the Cosmo Skymed rocket launch. The launch was ultimately cancelled due to the encroachment into the surveilled launch hazard area, the USCG said.

The COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation FM2 mission to low Earth orbit eventually launched on January 31st, the day after the incident.

2016-built, Bahamas-flagged, 226,963 gt Harmony Of The Seas is owned by Harmony Of The Seas Inc care of Royal Carribean Cruises Ltd of Florida, USA. It is entered with Gard on behalf of Harmony Of The Seas Inc.
