South African port operations back to normal after eight days

South African state-owned port and  land transport logistics operator Transnet has said that operations at South African ports were now back to normal, with days after operations were brought to a virtual standstill as a result of a cyber-attack.

“Transnet Port Terminals, in collaboration with the shipping lines is facilitating the evacuation of urgent containers for the automotive, FMCG and agricultural sectors,” Transnet said.

The ransomware has been identified as Death Kitty. Transnet declared force majeure on July 22nd.
