Scheherazade under close surveillance after arrest in Italy

Close surveillance was reported to have been undertaken on detained yacht Scheherazade (IMO 9809980)  in the port of Carrara over the weekend of May 7th and 8th after it was impounded in the early hours of May 7th. Police officers from Italy’s financial crimes force feared that the vessel was about to flee Italy.

Officers boarded the yacht to warn its British captain, Guy Bennett Pearce, not to set sail. They told him that a patrol ship was blocking the vessel’s route out of the port. Later that day a police helicopter monitored the yacht as a patrol vessel stayed in the port. No AIS since March 2nd. 2020-built, Cayman Islands-flagged, 10,167 gt Scheherazade is owned by Bielor Asset Ltd care of Onda Mare Yacht Management of Lucca, Italy
