Shipowners Club has said that the impact of Covid-19 has compelled a number of owners and operators to lay up tonnage. With restrictions on movement being slowly eased in some parts of the world, the Club said that some Members might be considering the reactivation of their vessels.
“Whether it be a passenger vessel, or any other type of vessel, reactivation following a period of lay-up requires very careful management in fully assessing the risks involved”, the Club said.
It has therefore re-circulated a guidance note to assist Members and which may compliment the many measures they may currently have in place to ensure a safe and successful reactivation of their vessel.
The guidance note to owners, operators and vessel managers relates to the reactivation of a vessel following a period of lay-up. it is designed to complement the recent publication of Shipowners’ Club’s ‘Endurance Guide’ for Members in tough market conditions, specifically section three.
