Port strike scheduled in India

The Water Transport Workers’ Federation of India (WTWFI) plans a nationwide strike in major ports against the decision by the Indian Shipping Ministry to repeal the Major Port Trust Act, 1963, replacing it with the Major Port Authority Bill, 2016, reports Hindu Business Line. CD Nandakumar, president of the federation, claimed that the new Bill was a deliberate attempt to convert major ports into an authority, with the eventual plan of privatization.
