Polaris puts older VLOCs into cold layup

South Korea-based Polaris Shipping is to send some of its older VLOCs into cold layup. The move follows an inspection of all vessels after VLOC Stellar Daisy sank in the South Atlantic in March, reports Splash.

Stellar Galaxy and Stellar Unicorn are now both in Labuan, Malaysia, a typical home for cold layups. Cracks were found in the hull of Stellar Unicorn and had already gone through repairs in April. Stellar Sambar is currently in Zhejiang Shipyard, China, while Stellar Iris has been moored in Dalian, China, since early May.
