Place of refuge – is the future bright?

Hugh Shaw OBE, the Secretary of State’s Representative for Maritime Salvage and Intervention, Maritime & Coastguard Agency will be giving a Marine & Energy lecture in the Old Library at Lloyd’s, 1 Lime St, London, from 1.15pm to 2pm on Tuesday November 7th at The Old Library, Lloyd’s.

Shaw will discuss:

·       Current UK practices for dealing with places of refuge and work being undertaken within the EU and internationally.

·       Challenges for Governments and Insurance/Salvage sectors when dealing with places of refuge incidents.

·       UK policy and case studies including MSC NAPOLI, MSC FLAMINIA and HOEGH OSAKA.

·       Insight into progress being made within the EU and across global Asia.

Shaw was appointed as Secretary of State’s Representative on January 1st 2008 and since that time he has been involved in more than 700 incidents.
