Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has re-opened all but a few of the Chinese mainland offices that it had closed because of the Covid-10 virus outbreak
Chongqing office remained closed, but will re-open on Monday February 23rd. Ningbo, Yiwu, Shenzhen and Zhongshan offices have applied to re-open. The Wuhan office currently remains closed.
However, OOCL said that, because of the extraordinary demand for reefer plugs on shore, difficulties related to the discharge and handling of reefer shipments at the Shanghai, Tianjin and Ningbo terminals continued.
OOCL said that this could lead to a diversion or relocation of reefer containers for discharge at an alternative port. It said that it was “currently working very closely with shippers on contingency plans and viable options to meet their requirements”.
