One person still missing after hundreds rescued from blazing Indonesian ferry

Only one person was still missing after 274 people, 181 of them passengers, were rescued from passenger ferry KM Karya Indah, which caught fire in a remote part of the Indonesian archipelago, from Ternate in the province of North Maluku towards Sanana on the island of Sulabes. The fire broke out early on Saturday morning May 29th.

Dramatic footage from Indonesia’s SAR agency showed the vessel engulfed in smoke and partly on fire as passengers in life vests jumped into lifeboats. The water at the time was calm.
