Oil tanker runs aground on Greek island

Small oil tanker Fres (IMO 9531363) ran aground in shallow waters at the beach of Kanavas, on the island of Milos, Greece, last Wednesday, September 19th, while trying to dock at the pier. No oil leaks have been reported thus far and the vessel does not appear to be taking in water. A coast guard vessel and a ship tasked with cleanup operations were on their way to inspect the tanker.

2009-built, Greece-flagged, 2,240 gt Fres is owned by Fres Shipping care of Avin Intl Ltd of Athens, Greece. It is entered with North of England Club on behalf of Fres Shipping Co.
