Norwegian Sun returns to Canaveral after Cuba cancellation

Cruise ship Norwegian Sun (IMO 9218131) returned to Port Canaveral on June 7th, a few days after a US State |Department announcement that banned US cruise ships from making stops in Cuba. It was diverted on June 4th only an hour after it had left Key West. The passengers were offered received a 50% refund for their current trip, and an extra 50% off their next cruise with Norwegian Cruises from Port Canaveral to Cuba have been popular since 2016, when the Obama administration started to allow travel to the country.

2001-built, Bahamas-flagged, 78,309 gt Norwegian Sun is owned by Norwegian Sun Ltd care of manager NCL Bahamas Ltd of Miami, Florida. It is entered with Steamship Mutual (Smuab) (Americas Division) on behalf of Norwegian Sun Ltd.
