Norwegian Cruise Line cancels its few remaining March 2021 trips

Norwegian Cruise Line will has cancelled the few remaining scheduled departures in March for its vessels Norwegian Encore, Escape and Joy. The Encore was scheduled to cruise from Miami, Florida, on March 1st; the Escape from Port Canaveral on March 11th; and the Joy from Miami on March 7th.

The company said that guests with booked cruises would receive a full refund plus an extra 10% credit for guests that use the refund to book a voyage within one year. Meanwhile, the proposed sailings for the MSC Magnifica (IMO 9387085) in Greece and the Greek islands, scheduled to start on January 7th, has been postponed again. The vessel is now scheduled to begin operating from February 14th.

Greece announced in December that extra measures would be taken to mitigate the effects of the second wave of infections. Schengen country nationals are still able to enter the country, but cruise ships are only allowed to make technical calls at Greek ports.

MSC Cruises thinks it is possible that the lockdown is to be extended and has decided to postpone any voyages in Greece until February 14th at the earliest.

MSC Cruises said that any guests booked on to the MSC Magnifica could rebook to the MSC Grandiosa, which is scheduled to resume trips from Genoa, Italy, on January 10th, following a Western Mediterranean itinerary.

After a short period of easing off and optimism, Europe has tightened up again on the cruise industry. Germany, the Netherlands and the UK have stopped cruises departing from all of its ports. MSC Cruises has announced it will only allow passengers from certain countries onboard their ships – currently consisting of Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain,

France, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland.
