West of England P&I Club has launched Neptune, a global information portal for Members, brokers and Club correspondents.
The Club said that by providing security, operational and bunker information at ports globally, the portal will deliver comprehensive information to all Club Members.
Neptune was developed in conjunction with Geollect. It incorporates data such as the Club’s claims experience, maritime security reports, sanctions, weather, sailing directions, maritime news, tides and other port-specific information. It also creates a faster and simpler way to access West’s Loss Prevention information resources, including local Covid-19 updates.
Neptune provides access to comprehensive data provided by fuel testing and inspection company Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) on bunkers delivered at the world’s top 10 bunking ports. It also offers the ability to request data on other bunkering destinations.
A library of West’s loss prevention information on bunkering as well as VPS’ Port Alerts makes Neptune a unique point of reference on bunkers for West Members.
West of England said that the dual challenges in 2020 of the Covid-19 pandemic and IMO 2020 had “highlighted the need for owners and operators to be able to access port-specific data in real time”. It said that the Neptune portal had an easy-to-use interactive map layout that enabled West of England’s Members to find actionable information and create custom reports for their key ports, geographic areas of interest and around a track between points of interest.
