Mumbai court orders Varun vessels’ crew pay as priority

A Mumbai, India Admiralty court has ordered that the payment of crew, who are said to be owed many hundreds of thousands of dollars, must be a priority when the LPG carriers currently owned by Varun are sold.

The crew employed on the eight vessels filed the petition against Varun. The ships are currently being detained by the courts.

Varun also faces bankruptcy proceedings following an order from National Company Law Tribunal. A 12-bank consortium is petitioning for a winding-up of Varun.
