MSC sues for alleged failure to fulfil pre-Covid contract

Shipping company MSC sued leading US-based importer Deere & Co in late November, alleging that Deere had failed to fulfil its volume commitments under a pre-Covid contract, reports Freightwaves.

MSC said that Deere signed a service agreement, effective from November 1st 2016 to November 1st 2019, under which Deere would tender a minimum of 27,000 teus to the carrier. MSC said Deere tendered only 19,576 teus and that this equated to damages of $1.48m under the contract.
