Ryan Godfrey has resigned from Axis to join the cargo team at Sompo International, Insurance Insider has reported.  Only yesterday it was reported that Stephen Barr had resigned to take up a role in the marine team at Sompo International

Oil products tanker Beks Aqua (IMO 9277735) reportedly went Not Under Command for unknown reasons during the afternoon of July 14th when it was 63nm off Lizard Point, en route from Malta. MRCC Falmouth tried several times to contact the vessel, but with no success, and DCPSO was informed. By July 18th the vessel was underway again, with the vessel being west of Brest, in the Bay of Biscay.

2004-built, Marshall islands-flagged, 42,432 gt Beks Aqua is owned by Aqua Maritime 7 Trading Inc care of manager VR Marine management Pte Ltd of Singapore.

A fire broke out in the accommodation block of general cargo ship Dvina (IMO 8866773) late on July 15th, during discharge operations at the port of Ambarli, Turkiye. The crew’s initial fire extinguishing operation was assisted by the port duty fire-fighting team. Subsequently the local fire brigade teams attended the scene, and the fire was extinguished after about an hour, at around midnight local time. The extent of damage and cause of the fire was not yet known. No injuries or pollution were reported. A detailed technical inspection was to be carried out by the class surveyor together with the Owner’s representatives.

1983-built, Russia-flagged, 2,426 gt Dvina is owned by Dvina OOO of Moscow, Russia. It is managed by VVT Shipping LLC of Moscow, Russia. As of July 18th the vessel was Stopped in the Marmara Sea, south of Istanbul, having been towed out of Ambarli on July 16th.
