Marine round-up : 18th June 2021

Will Buckley, formerly senior executive at West P&I, recently moved to Skuld to take up the role as Senior Claims Executive. He is now based in Hamburg. Buckley began his shipping-related career on the legal side at Ince, before moving to Clyde as an associate from 2015 to 2017. He then moved to West P&I in June of that year.

Cargo ship Mila (IMO 8865987) was detained while proceeding north of Susah during the evening of June 14th by the Libyan National Army for breaching its No Sail Zone. The ship, which had been en route from Misurata to Damietta, Egypt, was escorted to the Ras el Hilal anchorage where it moored and remained stationary as of June 17th.

Crude oil tanker Eneos Ocean (IMO 9662875) was detained about 53nm northwest of Pulau Kendi in Penang, Malaysia during the afternoon of June 15th by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency for illegally anchoring in Malaysian waters. The 26 crew members had failed to provide approval documents for anchoring and did not notify the authorities of their arrival in Malaysian waters. The tanker, which was en route from Shimotsu to Fujairah with an ETA as of June 26th, remained moored as of June 17th.

2014-built, Japan-flagged, 160,377 gt Eneos Ocean is owned and managed by Eneos ocean Corp of Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa-ken, Japan. It is entered with Japan Club (Tokyo office in charge) on behalf of Enos Ocean Corporation.

The Spanish transport ministry said that products tanker Aldan (IMO 9258014) would remain detained in Almería until a security fee has been paid. It said that, given the seriousness of the incident, the tanker could face one of the highest penalties imposed so far by the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine. The European Maritime Safety Agency, which monitors oil spills said it found the Aldan through routine monitoring operations. 2003-built, Liberia-flagged, 28,259 gt Aldan is owned by Baht Shipping Corp care of manager Muhit Maritime FZE of Dubai, UAE. It is entered with West of England Club (Claims Team Greece) on behalf of Shannon Trading SA.
