Product tanker Trung Thao 36-BLC (IMO 9700598) experienced a serious explosion in its portside cargo tanks midship area during the morning of September 7th, while waiting for permission to enter Dung Quat port, Quang Ngai, central Vietnam. Some of the 12 crew were reported to have been thrown overboard by the blast. One crew member was reported missing while 11 were rescued. A fire after explosion was extinguished within about an hour by tugs and the search and rescue teams. The tanker was in ballast.

All 29 sailors on fishing vessel Santiago I (IMO 7904982) have been transferred to an accommodation authorized by the Municipality. The crew was taken to the Samay Huasi hotel in Puerto Madryn. A police presence will be in place to guarantee compliance with mandatory social isolation. The fishing vessel arrived in Puerto Madryon, Argentina, on August 31st, reportedly failing to comply with the requirements established by the health protocol of the Port Administration. It did not have the swabs of the entire crew, nor had 14 days passed since his departure. It was therefore denied permission to dock. A positive case of Covid-19 was detected aboard cargo ship Manantial (IMO 9192155) in the Bay of Concepción, Chile, on September 5th. The infected crew member and six others considered to have had close contact were isolated. Six other crew members remained aboard the vessel. The final stage of the operation to lift and tow chemical/oil products tanker Delfi (IMO 8866266) started in Odessa on September 5th. The final stage will include pumping water out of tanks, testing water flow, moving the tanker to depth water, installing cables and devices for strapping the tanker between the DM barge and the ‘Atlas-4’ floating crane, confirming the possibility of crossing from the water area and finally the crossing itself.
