Marine accident round-up : 7th April 2021

The Oman Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has warned the owner of Iran-flagged towing vessel Sahand Fars (IMO 8629199) which has been stranded off the coast of Jaalan Bani Bu Hasan to have it towed within a maximum period of three months. It said that if it is not removed the Ministry would take legal measures in accordance with the provisions of the law regulating maritime navigation in the Omani territorial waters issued by Royal Decree No. 81/98.

2008-built, Iran-flagged, 498 gt Amir 110 is owned and managed by Velayati A of Dehghan Street Bushehr, Iran.

Bulk carrier Orient Angel (IMO 9384916) informed the CROSS Gris-Nez on April 1st that a migrant boat was in difficulty off the Dyck. The 12 castaways and their boat were taken on board. As the weather in the area did not allow the transhipment of the castaways to bring them back to shore, they temporarily remained aboard the ship. The vessel berthed in Dunkirk on April 2nd.

2007-built, Panama-flagged, 89,603 gt Orient Angel is owned by Southern Cross Ship Line SA care of manager Orient Line Corp of Matsuyama-shi, Ehime-ken, Japan. It is entered with Japan Club (Imabari Office in charge) on behalf of Southern Cross Ship Line SA. As of the morning of April 6th the vessel remained moored at Dunkirk.

Bulk carrier Tremola (IMO 9460813) suffered damage to a crane jib, which twisted during loading operations at Douala, Cameroon, during the early afternoon of March 24th. The jib collapsed, but no-one was injured. The ship departed on March 29th, arriving at Bata on April 3rd. As of April 6th the vessel was at anchor off Kribi, Cameroon, having sailed from Bata, Equatorial Guinea on April 5th.

2011-built, Marshall Islands-flagged, 29,218 gt Tremola is owned by Tremola Shipping KS care of manager Batnav AS of Hellerup, Denmark. ISM manager is Union Commercial Inc of Athens, Greece. It is entered with Gard P&I on behalf of KS Tremola Shipping.
