Bulk carrier W Smash (IMO 9625877) was in collision with Danish f/v Charlotte P – FN 131 (MMSI 220256000) in the Kattegat between Denmark and Sweden during the afternoon of September 3rd. The bulk carrier had sailed from Wilhelmshaven and was bound for Riga with an ETA of early on September 6th. The fishing vessel entered the port of Skagen that evening. 2013-built, Liberia-flagged, 45,055 gt W-Smash is owned by Ukon Ltd care of manager W Marine Inc of Athens, Greece. It is entered with Gard P&I (Bermuda) on behalf of Ukon Ltd.

Bulk carrier Kanchana Naree (IMO 9434735) ran agro und around dawn on September 2nd on the Rio De la Plata off Buenos Aires, Argentina. The ship refloated late on September 4th and was taken to an anchorage at Ensenada for investigation. It remained moored on September 4th. 2011-built, Thailand-flagged, 33,044 gt Kanchana Naree is owned by Precious Metals Ltd care of manager Precious Shipping PCL of Bangkok, Thailand. ISM manager is Great Circle Shipping Agency of Bangkok, Thailand. It is entered with UK P&I Club (Area Group London L4) on behalf of Precious Metals Ltd.

Bulk carrier Guardianship (IMO 9493688) allided with the quay after berthing at the Monfer Dry Bulk Terminal on August 30th, having arrived from Las Palmas. While leaving Savona on September 1st, cruise ship Costa Diadema (IMO 9636888), manoeuvring in the port, caused a broken mooring wire of Guardianship, resulting in the latter’s allision. Costa Diadema continued her voyage and berthed in Marseilles on September 2nd.

Discharging of the damaged cargo of multi-purpose carrier Koza (IMO 9310343) has faced regular interruptions due to cargo still smouldering inside the holds. Consequently, the vessel recycling process had yet to start. A duty fire brigade team was on standby at the shipyard. The vessel remained stationary at the scrapyard pier on Sep 2. 2004-built, unknown-flagged, 6,221 gt Koza is owned by Xebec Shipping care of manager Burtrans Denizcilik of Istanbul, Turkey.

The voyage data recorder from the wreck of VLOC Stellar Daisy (IMO 9038725) will be brought up from the bottom of the sea, the South Korean government has decided. The box could help reveal the cause of the shipwreck. Stellar Daisy sank in the Atlantic off Uruguay in March 2017. A salvage company was to be appointed shortly, and the recovery operation could start as early as October in the Atlantic off Uruguay. 1993-built, Marshall Islands-flagged, 148,43` gt Stellar Daisy is owned by VP-14 Shipping Inc of Majuro, Marshall Islands. Manager is Polaris Shipping of Seoul, South Korea.
