A painting project was blamed for a smell that affected some passengers of cruise ship Carnival Magic (IMO 9378486) in Virginia, which prompted the US Coast Guard to send a crew on May 2nd to investigate the matter. On that day a number of passengers had reported people feeling ill on the ship after detecting an unusual smell. A USCG crew went to the vessel, but no one needed to be evacuated for medical treatment. The vessel was docked in Norfolk. The odour was apparently produced by an outside painting project taking place.
