Four Albanian crew on general cargo ship Kristi I (IMO 8918291) were taken with to hospital at Ravenna, Italy, with symptoms of poisoning, shortly after the ship’s arrival from Split on August 20th. The poisoning was believed to have been caused by fumigation from the cargo of grain. 1992-built, Albania-flagged, 2,033 gt Kristi I is owned and managed by Blumare Co Shpg of Durres, Albania. ISM manager is Albmarine Ltd, also of Durres, Albania.
Chemical oil products tanker Bravely Sincerity (IMO 9582738) was reported arrested by the Singapore Admiralty Sheriff at Singapore on August 20th. The arresting solicitors were Haridass Ho & Partners. The vessel was moored on the Western Anchorage. 2010-built, Singapore-flagged, 9,127 gt Bravely Sincerity is owned by Golden Pacifica Marine care of MSI ShipManagement Pte Ltd of Singapore. It is entered with UK P&I Club (Area Group Hong Kong) on behalf of Bravely International Pte Ltd. As of August 27th she was still at anchor.
Work began to refloat offshore support vessel Thoran (IMO 7710549) on August 27th. She is resting semi-sunken in the dock of Cádiz. The Port Authority has maintained an oil barrier to contain the leaking diesel that evaporated slowly without any contamination. Divership has the salvage contract .The wreck may be taken to El Puerto de Santa María and stay there or be left in Cádiz if it cannot be towed. 1978-built, Comoros-flagged, 278 gt Thoran is owned and managed by Laguna Shipping Co Ltd-Mai of Rostov-na-Donu, Russia.
A fire broke out in the engine room of fishing vessel Pavel Kutakhov (IMO 8607282) in the North Atlantic off Greenland during the afternoon of August 23rd while the ship was receiving fuel from tanker Nordstraum (IMO: 9036284), in a ship-to-ship supply. The fire was extinguished within 24 hours, but during the firefighting operation the chief engineer died under as yet unknown circumstances. The trawler was drifting disabled in the sea, and another trawler, the Kapitan Demidenko (IMO 8907137) had been sent to assist. 1989-built, Russia-flagged, 7,765 gt is owned and managed by Murmansk Trawl Fleet Co of Murmansk, Russia. Chemical oil products tanker Nordic Sund (IMO 9375977) suffered an engine failure early on August 27th in the Humber river estuary, southeast of Hull, UK. The tanker was en route from Kingston to Southampton. The tanker initially resumed sailing, but at 6 a.m. it turned to starboard and stopped northeast of Haile Sand Fort lighthouse. In the afternoon she was taken in tow by tug Svitzer Valiant towards Hamble where she arrived on August 28th. 2008-built, Norway-flagged, 2,613 gt Nordic Sund is owned by BKR Carriers KS care of manager Nordic Tankers Trading A|S of Hellerup. Denmark. ISM manager is Danis Ship Management AS of Hellerup, Denmark. It is entered with Skuld (Bergen business unit) on behalf of Brødrene Klovning Shipping AS.
Bulk carrier Gleamstar (IMO 9537733) was refloated on August 25th shortly before noon. It berthed in San Nicolas de Los Arroyaos around dawn on August 26th. The Argentine Coastguard authorized restricted navigation in both directions through the area. Dredger Nunez was working in the area. Gleamster ran aground shortly after midday on August 24th on the Paraná at river km 317, sailing upstream from Santa Marta to San Nicolas. The ship blocked the fairway. 2011-built, Marshall Islands-flagged, 41,342 gt Gleamstar is owned by Longford Developments care of manager Gleamray Maritime of Athens, Greece.
