Marine accident round-up : 29th November 2021

Container ship Maersk Bulan (IMO 9355343) was disabled at around dawn on November 26th in the English Channel north of Boulogne, while en route from Southampton, UK to Antwerp, Belgium. It resumed after about three hours and berthed at Antwerp shortly after midnight on November 27th.

2008-built, Singapore-flagged, 25,835 gt Maersk Bulan is owned by Moller Singapore AP Pte Ltd of Singapore. It is managed by Maersk AS of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is entered with Standard Club (European Division) on behalf of AP Moller Singapore Pte Ltd.

General cargo ship Francisca (IMO 9113214) suffered a mechanical failure while it was at Reykjavik, Iceland, on November 26th. It was being towed to Akureyri Eyjafjorour Fjord in northern Iceland. Towage commenced during the evening of November 26th with an ETA at Akureyri of November 29th.

1997-built, Netherlands-flagged, 4,015 gt Francisca is owned by Francisca BV care of manager Longship BV of Groningen, Netherlands. ISM manager is VMS Ship management BV of Werkendem, Netherlands. It is entered with North of England Club on behalf of Noord Nederlandsche P&I Club.

General cargo ship BF Timaru (IMO 9346421) went a\drift on November 23rd when it was west of the Isles of Scilly, heading from St Petersburg to New Orleans, with an ETA of December 7th. After being adrift for some time the ship turned back and by early on November 24th it was under way at a reduced speed of some 4-6 knots, heading due east. By November 25th the designated destination was changed to Falmouth ETA. It later transpired that  the ship suffered an engine failure and towage was contracted by Alp Defender (IMO 9737242).

2006-built, Antigua and Barbuda-flagged, 8,407 gt BF Timaru is owned by BF Timaru Schiffahrts GmbH care of manager BF Shipmanagement GmbH of Stade Niederelbe, Germany. It is entered with Hydor.

Container ship Hyundai Goodwill (IMO 9347607) had to interrupt its voyage from Hamburg to Busan to medevac a crew member who was badly injured in an accident in the engine room on November 22nd in the Laccadive Sea. The ship arrived at Kochi anchorage that evening. Paramedics of the Indian Coast Guard boarded the ship and administered first aid before the victim was transferred to a hospital. The container ship resumed its voyage on November 23rd. As of November 27th the vessel was in the Malacca Strait, en route to Busan, ETA December 6th.
