Container ship Seaspan Lahore (IMO 9301811) was reported to have caused a fuel spill on May 24th at the container terminal of Total International Algeciras (TTIA) in the port of Algeciras. The Maritime Authority of Algeciras set a bail of €84,000 and detained the vessel at the Isla Verde dock. The ship was said to have suffered a crack in her hull. The investigation of the oil spill was ongoing. The cleaning teams of Gabarras & Servicios were deployed by the Port Authority. All the spilled fuel has been removed. The ship remained boomed off.

Indonesia’s Fleet One Quick Response Team (F1QR) arrested the perpetrators on May 22nd. Bulk carrier Unity Explorer (IMO 9726035) was boarded by pirates/robbers on May 16th while she was berthed at the port of Douala, Cameroon. They broke the padlock on the forecastle store and stole ship property. The crew was reported safe. Cargo ship Maersk Regensburg (IMO 9332676) was illegally boarded by one individual on May 25th at the Banana Anchorage, three miles from shore in Congo The duty crew on deck spotted the intruder on board removing lashing from a deck. The alarm was raised, and the crew mustered. The intruder fled the vessel in a small boat with an outboard motor. One container had one lashing bar removed. All attempts to contact Pilot/shore by VHF 16 failed. A further 16 crew members on cruise ship Costa Magica (IMO 9239795), which is moored in the port of Ancona on the Italian Adriatic, have tested positive for Covid-19, adding to 49 crew members who had already tested positive. Of the 617 people who arrived at the port on April 28th 431 remained on board.
