Marine accident round-up : 26th October 2021

A ship provisionally identified as the MSC Lucia (IMO 8413887) was reported as attacked in the Gulf of Guinea at around 09:00 UTC October 25th. MSC Lucia was en route from Lomé, Togo, to Douala, Cameroon, with an ETA of October 27th. Updates awaited. Last AIS is from October 24th, when it was reported as underway off the port of Lomé/

1985-built, Panama-flagged, 21,887 gt MSC Lucia is owned by NSM Lucia Shipping Co Ltd care of manager Niki Shipping Co SA of Athens, Greece. ISM manager is MSC Shipmanagement Ltd of Limassol, Cyprus. It is entered with North of England on behalf of Conglomerate Maritime Ltd.

RoRo cargo ships Grande Ghana (IMO 9343168) and Grande Argentina (IMO 9198135) broke loose from berths 1303 and 1307 respectively during stormy conditions on October 21st at the AET Terminal and Port of Antwerp. As of October 24th Grande Ghana and Grande Argentina were both still moored in Antwerp.

2009-built, Italy-flagged, 47,128 gt Grande Ghana is owned by Grimaldi Deep Sea SpA and managed by Grimaldi Group SpA of Naples, Italy. It is entered with North of England on behalf of Grimaldi Deep Sea SpA

2001-built, Malta-flagged, 56,660 gt Grande Argentina is owned by ACL Invest 2003 AB care of Grimaldi Group SpA of Naples, Italy. It is entered with Standard Club on behalf of ACL Invest A/B.

The owners of bulk carrier Glory Future (IMO 9170652) have contracted the Saigon Newport Corporation to refloat the grounded vessel. Efforts commenced on October 22nd with three tugs engaged to try to pull the vessel into deeper waters. The Central Oil Spill Response Centre also dispatched two vessels with buoys to coordinate deployment, if an oil spill occurs. Weather conditions were reported to be poor, making the refloating problematic.

1998-built, Hong Kong-flagged, 17,784 gt Glory Future is owned by Glory Future Shipping HK Co care of manager Ani Shipping Pte Ltd of Singapore. ISM manager is Amoy Ocean Shipping Co Ltd of Xiamen, Fujian, China. It is entered with American Club on behalf of Glory Future Shipping (HK) Co Ltd.

General cargo ship Haksa (IMO 9070503) allided with the quay of berth No.18 while mooring in in Chornomorsk port, Ukraine, during the morning of October 22nd, en route from Gebze, Turkey. The ship’s bow and the quay were damaged. As of October 24th the vessel was moored at the port of Chornomorsk.
